As HNCE closes for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we hope
that you and your family remember the importance of equality, love, and friendship.
May we spend this day thinking of ways to out do one another in love and kindness.
We also want to wish you a happy 2016 and review our happenings so far this school year.
Community Playground Build
On Friday, August 15th our HNCE parents and PTO came together to build a wonderful new
playground for K-2 students. This playground was funded through the PTO’s 2014-2015
cookie dough fundraiser and was designed by the 2014-2015 5th grade student council.
On Friday, September 11th grandparents flooded HNCE to read with students, meet teachers, and see classrooms. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the day!
See You At The Pole
On Wednesday, September 13th HNCE participated in the nationwide student led prayer at the flag pole. A song was led by a former HNCE student and a message was given by James Reardon.
This exciting week at HNCE continued with a ribbon cutting opening ceremony for our project fit playground on Thursday morning. Mrs. Cuevas and Coach Ball opened the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of MS Foundation grant funded playground with keynote speakers Eugenia King and Alan Dedeaux and fitness demonstrations from 5th grade students.
Veteran’s Day Assembly
HNCE’s 5th grade student council took part in honoring veterans from all over the gulf coast with an assembly and breakfast with students on Wednesday, November 11th.
Another fun packed week at HNCE continued with our annual fall festival on Thursday, November 12th and Friday, November 13th. This year our PTO presented a carnival themed festival filled with games, inflatables, concessions, a photo booth, and even a sampling of our grade level gardens’ harvests! This delight filled evening concluded with grade level song performances and a “pieing of the principals” fundraiser.
